Mürren → Rotstockhütte
Sitting in a sun-drenched meadow at the foot of the Schilthorn, the Rotstockhütte is a classic Bernese Oberland hut — stone walls, warm hospitality, and some of the best views in the Alps. The hike from Mürren winds through alpine pastures with cowbells in the background and the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau ahead of you. This is the perfect introduction to Swiss mountain hut life.
Mürren → Lobhornhütte
One of the most rewarding overnight hikes in the region. The Lobhornhütte sits at 1,955m with extraordinary views of Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau on one side and Lakes Brienz and Thun shimmering far below on the other. The hut has 24 beds, warm food, and a hidden alpine lake — the Sulsseewli — just a 10-minute walk from the door. A truly special place.
Mürren → Berggasthaus Obersteinberg
No electricity. No road. No other way in but on foot. The Berggasthaus Obersteinberg is one of the most extraordinary places to spend a night in Switzerland — a historic mountain inn deep in the upper Lauterbrunnen Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage Area, with front-row views of the thousand-foot Schmadribach waterfall. Dinner is communal, served at long tables, with candles on the walls. Rooms have porcelain washbasins, thick duvets, and waterfall views. Run by the same family for generations.
Mürren → Gspaltenhornhütte
This is the adventure for those who want to go further. The route climbs from Mürren through the Sefinen Valley, past the Rotstockhütte, and up to the Sefinenfurgge Pass at 2,612m before descending to the SAC hut perched at 2,455m. It's serious mountain terrain — spectacular, remote, and unforgettable. Often the start of a multi-day traverse towards Kandersteg. Suitable for experienced mountain hikers only.
