North Face Trail Mürren
One of the most iconic trails in the Jungfrau Region, and for good reason. Starting from the top of the Allmendhubel funicular, the trail winds through alpine meadows and traditional dairy farms with the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau almost constantly in view. You'll pass Pension Suppenalp — a great spot for coffee and homemade food — before descending gently back towards Mürren or continuing down to the charming village of Gimmelwald. There are slight uphill sections, but it's mostly downhill — making it accessible for most fitness levels. Sturdy shoes recommended. If you'd rather skip the funicular and walk the extra 300m of elevation, you can hike up to Allmendhubel from Mürren instead.
Highlight
Uninterrupted views of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau the entire way, cows grazing in the meadows, and passing the Schiltalp dairy farm where you can buy fresh snacks and cheese.
Laura's Tip
Go early — the morning light on the peaks is magical and the trail is quieter before 10am. Stop at Suppenalp for a coffee or hot chocolate, and at Schiltalp further along to buy cheese and snacks.
